From a recent graduate: If you have the pleasure of talking with someone who has just graduated, for the love of god, don't ask that question. Don't. Chances are, they don't know what's ahead of them. For years of your life, your goal has been the same: graduating. You work relentlessly towards that, focus on passing finals, understanding that impossible subject, getting over that one professor that kind of traumatized you; and then, in a blink of an eye, it's over. And you suddenly have to figure everything out. Internships, job applications, living situation. It is a lot! So parents, if you are reading this, maybe give your kids a break, and don't ask what their future looks like. Babe, I just finished my career; my plans look like sleeping until noon for a month.

And let's be real, if I were to have a perfectly planned future, who are we kidding? That plan is probably not gonna happen. And, hey, I don't mean that as a bad thing. But life has its own way of making things happen, and most of the time they don't go the way we thought they would. Sometimes life turns a 180 swing from what we expected, but takes us to a much better place, a place where we are more aligned with who we are. But those things are impossible to plan. You have to go ahead with whatever life throws at you. Whatever that may look like.

There is also this idealization of getting a degree. Somewhere along the way, we all believed this piece of paper would land us a fab job at our favorite company. Oh, you studied at your local community college? Please be the CEO of my multimillion-dollar company, LOL. No, but for real, we all thought that was the way things would go. You study for 4+ years, work hard to get good grades, and then who wouldn't be thrilled to have you on their team? Well, sadly, that's not really how life works, and that's okay. It takes time, but I know all the recently graduated divas out there will get the job they have been manifesting. In the meantime, relax, turn off your alarms, and enjoy these well-earned memes.
